How does a person get a military ID card that states they served and was honorably discharged?

My dad is looking to get a military ID that states he was in the service and discharged. He served during the era of the Vietnam conflict in the Navy. When he reaches 62 he will be eligible for one and all the benefits of a Retiree including post/base access, use of facilities, Space A privileges, medical, etc...



He might be eligible for it sooner if he has above the percentage for disability. He needs to talk to VA

The way your father would prove his service is to have a copy of his DD214 from his discharge. If he needs a copy you can order one through the National Archives website.

He will get a VA card.

Also with that VA card, he can get a 10% discount at any (Lowes home improvement centers).

He must ask at the counter,,,,,
