Governor Kasich did the right thing by reducing this conviction from a felony to a 1st degree misdemeanor.
yet people criticize Kasich for this. why?
all she did was use her father's address to sneak the kids into a better school system out of concern for her kids' safety and well being............
who was harmed by this? no one.
not saying it's ok to break the law, but a felony is too severe for this. Why do some people think this is worthy of a felony charge?
The people who criticize Gov Kasich's decision, are most likely, rigid, vindictive and perhaps even racist individuals. It is a well known fact that schools that service minority group areas are often inferior, so parents do whatever they can to try to get their kids into better schools. In this case the mother was an African American woman, and your other respondent's answer to your question appears to me like an expression of her being personally " ripped off " which is utterly ridiculous. In New York and many other places this is a common occurrence and when people are found out, at the very worst, their children are made to re enroll in their regular schools. No criminal charges should have ever been brought against this mother.Nevertheless I found it quite surprising that Gov Kasich, the right wing union busting Governor should have taken this decent action. So rather than being criticized he should be praised for this show of humanity., not often found any more among Republicans
Hope this helpsWhy do some people think this is worthy of a felony charge?
It's ok to break the law just a little bit? Since when.
I am going to bet there is a lot more to this story then your source cares to reveal. We see that when she was discovered, had her father falsify records by claiming the kids lived with him in the school district.
She got hit with a felony because she refused to pay the $30,000 tuition that she "stole" from the school district.
Only got 9 days in jail.....If I stole $30,000 I could expect a whole lot more.
Why do people criticize Kasish? Should be quite obvious.
