They keep saying Obama is going to fail, just like they did with Bill Cinton in 1993.
Look at what the GOP was saying about Clinton back then with his Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1993:
"The tax increase will kill jobs and lead to a recession, and the recession will force people off of work and onto unemployment and will actually increase the deficit."
- Newt Gingrish
"I believe this will lead to a recession next year." "Stay tuned for the next 60 days". "I think we're frankly now living on borrowed time."
- Newt Gingrish
"A recipe for economic disaster,"
- Phil Crane (R) Illinois
"It is going to lead to a Clintastrophy, an economic Clintastrophy,"
- Dan Burton (R) Indiana
"April Fool, America. This Clinton budget plan will not create jobs, will not grow the economy, and will not reduce the deficit."
- Pete Domenici (R) New Mexico
"We are buying a one-way ticket to a recession,"
- Phil Gram (R) Texas
"I want to predict here tonight, that if we adopt this bill the American economy is going to get weaker and not stronger, the deficit four years from today will be higher than it is today and not lower ... When all is said and done, people will pay more taxes, the economy will create fewer jobs, the government will spend more money, and the American people will be worse off."
- Phil Gram (R) Texas
This plan will not work." "If it was to work, then I'd have to become a Democrat and believe that more taxes and bigger government is the answer."
- Kasich (R)

RESULT:
- Longest economic expansion in history
- Over 23 million jobs createdHow many repugs are going to have to eat their words 2 years from now when the economy is back on track?
I always like it when the Republicans have to eat their words.
However the economy will not be back on track in 2 years or even 5 years.
We are going to have to live with a miserable economy for a very long time.
It could be 10 or 20 years before our economy gets back on track.
It took over 10 years for us to get our of the Great Depression of the 1930s.
Even then, it took twenty more years before the economy really got going again.
Even the economy in the early 1950s did not do all that well.
It was not until the 1960s that we had a decent economy again.
That was thirty years after the Great Depression began!!!
We are going into a similar period.
We will be in for a very long miserable economy for a very long time.
It will not make any difference who is President.
Repubs don't like to be wrong, and they've obviously never stepped into a u.s. history class.
Clinton created a BUDGET SURPLUS. A freaking surplus. He fixed the 1st bush's mistakes.
Now we need another democrat to fix another bush's mistakes. How many repugs are going to have to eat their words 2 years from now when the economy is back on track?
You do understand economics right? And you do understand what Obama and the Democrats are doing right? So you understand that most likely the Democrats are going to look like morons in a few years when they spend, spend, spend and we go further and further into recession...
Epic Fail
None will eat their words. They will have all committed political and personal suicide by then. How many repugs are going to have to eat their words 2 years from now when the economy is back on track?
0.
Just think how much better it would have been if he hadn't raised taxes. I know my parents were paying a lot more in taxes under Clinton than they did before or after him.
After 2 years, thats probably all we will have to eat!
Now...for real, Yes I will. If Barry pulls this off I might even vote for him again. Lets wait and see.
So will you eat your words if Obama fails? I hardly doubt it.
Enron, Worldcom and those Internet Companies could not agree with you more that Clinton was great!
And where will you get money to pay rent and eat if this does not work?
We know our history, and we know it won't work!
Will you eat your words when things are worse than they are now???
i am not rep. but i can't see it back on track anytime soon
"Look at what the GOP was saying about Clinton back then with his Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1993:"
At the time we made that prediction (in 1993), we thought that the Dems were going to control congress for the next 7 years at least. We had no idea we were going to take control of both houses of congress by the next year and put a stop to the Democrats foolishness.
"RESULT:
- Longest economic expansion in history
- Over 23 million jobs created"
Thank you Republican congress.
Mike writes: "We are going to have to live with a miserable economy for a very long time.
It could be 10 or 20 years before our economy gets back on track."
Translation, this is just a pre-emptive admission that Obamas ways are not going to work. So, put the blame on Bush for anything that goes wrong for the next 10-20 years.
