Why do you think of incoming Ohio Governor John Kasich's decision to reject funding for state rail?

I am so outraged that he rejected this money, $400 million dollars, that is now being sent to another state. His argument was that the rail will only go an average speed of 49 mph, however he is not thinking long term. The money is going for track upgrades, which will also benefit the freight companies that use the same tracks. Also, having the infrastructure in place sets us up for potential upgrades in the future to high speed rail. With the gas prices rising past $4, it doesn't make sense to cut this program, plus it will provide thousands of much needed jobs for the state. I've had enough of this idiotic pundit of a governor, and he's not even in office yet. If this is what the republican philosophy believes, I don't think I could ever vote for today's republicans. Anyone else feel like I do?Why do you think of incoming Ohio Governor John Kasich's decision to reject funding for state rail?
Nose bitten off, face spited.

He's also been pretty up front about ignoring Ohio's sunshine laws.
You don't know what you're talking about. Kasich wanted to use the money instead for other infrastructure projects, but the Obama administration said no. He then suggested using it to help pay down the deficit, but again, he was turned down.

The rail system would have cost more than it was worth, plain and simple. It would have required continuous subsidization and would not even have been very effective at the purposes for which it was intended. Kasich made the right move. Perhaps you should do a little research before blindly attacking. Why do you think of incoming Ohio Governor John Kasich's decision to reject funding for state rail?
I'm sure the people who were counting on the jobs constructing such a system would have provided think he's a real swell guy.
Why pay 400 Million for something that could be done for free. Good for John. I hope more states turn down Fed money. Why do you think of incoming Ohio Governor John Kasich's decision to reject funding for state rail?
Ever heard of Amtrak? He was right.
My view of the rail system would come down to finances.
First how much does it cost to up keep the rails, how much will it likely cost after the upgrade.
If new rail technology lowers the upkeep then not doing it would be stupid.
As for the possibilities of a high speed line- how quickly can it be built- what will the real speed be and how much intrest and will it help freight out to much. edit
if the plan won't lower expenses it would be better to either not use the proposesed money or use it to fund schools
