How long can I wait before using military clause to break lease?

My husband deployed for Afghanistan a week ago and I am considering using my military clause to get out of our lease and get on post housing... I need to know how long after he leaves do I hve to use the clause because I would like to stay in the apartment till we get post housing which has a couple month wait... Please any help is welcomedHow long can I wait before using military clause to break lease? Is there a military clause in the rental agreement you signed? And if so were you already on the waiting list for housing? There is no guarantee that you will be able to get out of the lease just to move into housing. Lots of agreements require the AD member to be PCSing more than 50 miles or farther away. So just because he went on deployment doesn't mean you can break the lease. If they will allow it then at least 30 days notice. You will also have to pay on advance for housing for the month you move in

Also if you were not on thr housing list as soon as he checked into the command means that you can be bumped by people PCSing to that location and you will have to pay to move your things into housing or do it yourself. Only if he signed up for housing as soon as he arrived then because of a wait for housing got a rental will the military pay for movers and you will only be bumped by those who are in an emergency. You will also require a specific POA to get into housing. They need to let you know that your place is ready it could be shortly or it could be several

months away. How long can I wait before using military clause to break lease?him deploying is not a valid reason.. only for PCS orders can you get out of a lease.

you wanting to move on base is not good enough and the landlord does NOT have to let you out of it.
