How does one get a military retirement status if they are 100% service connected disabled and rated from the VA?Is a 100 percent service connected veteran consider military retired and if yes how does one claim it?You don't,
They are completely separate things.
There are alot of veterans that are 100% service connect disabled, that are not retired.
You only become medically retired, at the point you leave the service.
If your not medically retired then, you cannot become medically retired at a later point.
IE: if your an E-4 and are medically retired, you collect a pension, based on being an E-4.
Thats separate from a VA disability pension. Is a 100 percent service connected veteran consider military retired and if yes how does one claim it?No, you must be retired by the military on a permanet physical disability rating at the rank youlast held. BUT if you are %100 Service -connected from the V.A. you can get some on post privilages like shopping at the commisarry. Things may have changed so check it out on the internet or google the Elisted Retirment Association for more info at this web site, http://www.trea.org/Is a 100 percent service connected veteran consider military retired and if yes how does one claim it?My DD-214 state Medically Retired. Started getting checks right after getting out of serviceIs a 100 percent service connected veteran consider military retired and if yes how does one claim it?
no. the two are different systems and use different criteria. if you were not medically retired from the military, you cannot get that changed. .
