Why do they spend our taxes teaching combat to military recruits who will never see combat, members like accountants, lawyers, basically all desk jobs in the military.
We also need to cut the reserves! Why do we waste our tax dollars in a bloated military? Do we really need a Veterinary Corps?FY2011 US Budget

Take your pickWhy do we waste our tax dollars in a bloated military? Do we really need a Veterinary Corps?
Easy to tell you never spent a day in Uniform.
Ever hear of security dogs, war dogs ?
Very handy allies those dogs.
When the bullets fly, everybody is an infantryman,a rifleman.
You think like the pre-Pearl Harbor democrats, small size, poorly armed and not ready.
Spend 2 months with the Marines in Afganistan and come back to this question. Why do we waste our tax dollars in a bloated military? Do we really need a Veterinary Corps?Oh I don't know. Maybe because we can:
A) Deter military attacks
B) Be able to defend ourselves when an attack does comes
C) Not lose a war, because guess what? Other countries aren't nice like us and give you back your country after they beat you in a war. They rape and pillage.
Well they keep spending on useless causes . From churches to the army . I have no idea but the more the merrier . And I love nothing more than watching people die who blindly follow what they don't understand . Soldiers , terrorists , bobble head toys . Same thing
Edit- and I'm not against the soldiers . It's a shame when they die because of profit of others . I just hate those who justify the wars and death of their own men .Why do we waste our tax dollars in a bloated military? Do we really need a Veterinary Corps?Ask the 3rd Infantry Division Chaplin in Baghdad who was forced to pick up a weapon or die when the unit he was with was nearly overrun. Why do we waste our tax dollars in a bloated military? Do we really need a Veterinary Corps?
The only thing bloated about our military are the contracts paid out to union labor. In the Marine Corps EVERYONE is an infantryman first.
The two biggest expenditures in the military budget are to R %26amp; D in weapons development and procurement -- read: union labor, and health care and again, it's all in the cost of medicinals which are union made.
The bigger expenditure is in the Department of Health and Human Services -- read: welfare.
The military produces security and helps to "enforce" national policies over seas (protecting your privately owned business interests). What does Welfare produce?
First, yes we do need a veterinary corps. We use dogs with the MPs, horses for ceremonies, dolphins for the Navy, and many other animals on a regular basis in the military. So, yes we do need a veterinary corps.
Second, we teach all those people how to handle basic combat because they may still see combat. Just because you are a pencil pusher doesn't mean that you will never have to pick up a weapon and defend yourself or your comrades. In addition, just because you wanted to be a pencil pushers doesn't mean you get to stay one. The military reserves the right to change your training and place you where needed.
The reserves are there to make sure that we have a team of ready to go soldier should we get into trouble. Bringing a fighting unit up to par with the proper number of soldiers is not something that can be done quickly or easily. Instead, you keep some people on hand who remain trained and up to date on the most current procedures and they will be useful to you instead of you having to spend far more resources and risk losing a war before you even start.
Yes, the military budgets need to be cut. No, this is not a good way at all.Why do we waste our tax dollars in a bloated military? Do we really need a Veterinary Corps?
You should of served or if still young enough..go enlist. Don't BS and say you did. With that attitude, you wouldn't of lasted 16 hours in what I spent 16 weeks to complete when I started.
It's a lot easier to criticize from the inside out than being on the outside knowing nothing of what you're talking about.
Oh .....I almost forgot.
Sempar Fi.
Call back after the UNLAWFUL spending is curbed. THEN we can debate HOW MUCH we need for the MANDATORY spending.
Excluding "professional" occupations like lawyers and doctors, most of the other professions are taught basic combat training BEFORE becoming working in accounting, supply, personnel, etc. There is an old saying, "You are a rifleman first." I'll bet you didn't know that at any given time, that accountant can be ordered to pick up a rifle and take a position on the front lines.
With that said, with the exception of lawyers and maybe even doctors to some extent, I could be okay with privatizing some of the other fields like accounting, supply, etc. The downside is, where do those people go? Chances are, these people joined the military to learn a trade and to get funding for a higher education beyond the military; all while being paid to do it. Without the military as an option, these people will instead, end up working at wal-mart or 7-eleven and/or go into debt trying to obtain an education.
If the tea party really wanted to cut government spending they should target the waste in the military budget.
