I am seriously thinking of joining the military i am planning on going and talking to a recruiter within a month once I'm done with school. I would like to know what are the processes you have to go through before you enlist in any branch. Do you get a physical done a background check do you get a say in what you're going to be doing if you enlist. When do you take the asvab test before or after you enlist.
Can you back out after you take the asvab test and you don't like what you're going to be doing as your job ?What are the process of joining any military branch? You will talk with a recruiter first. They will schedule you for the ASVAB test. You will then be schedule for a physical at MEPS. They might try to make it all the same day if possible.
You will fill out a ton of paperwork and they will run police checks etc on you.
The Army is the only branch that will let you pick your MOS the other branches I'm not 100% sure but I think you pick 3 fields.
You might not have to take the ASVAB again to reclass however if you score low you might want to take it again prior to enlisting. What are the process of joining any military branch? The exact process of Enlisting I am not sure. Your Recruiter will let you know more. And they are not allowed to lie, there are serious consequences if they are caught lying. I do know that you will be required to provide your Medical Records, you will go through a Medical Examination.
My advice:
- Start doing research: goarmy.com figure out what jobs you would like
- Start eating correctly and exercising
- Do not lie to your Recruiter about anything.
- Keep your nose clean (as in don't get in trouble with the law)
Once you sign on the dotted line you have made a commitment. I will tell you this about the Military; You don't like where you are or what you are doing, it changes. Stick it out and you might be surprised how much you end up enjoying it.
My husband only wanted to stay in for the 4 year commitment. Now he is determined to pin on a star.
Good Luck! What are the process of joining any military branch? All you have to do is make sure you have a clean background. Like no criminal crimes, make sure your clean as in like no drugs in your system. And study for the asvab. What are the process of joining any military branch?
First, figure out whether you want to be in a branch that goes into combat, or a branch that provides combat support. If you want to go into combat, this narrows your choices down to Army or Marines. If you want to be in a branch that provides combat support, that would be the Navy or Air Force (not that they NEVER see combat, but the Army and Marines tend to be the leading edge in any combat). Or do you want to be in a life-saving/law-enforcement service? If so, you would choose the Coast Guard.
The ASVAB is usually administered before you go to MEPS. And, yes, you can back out after the ASVAB, unless you've signed an enlistment contract. Also, the ASVAB does not determine your specific MOS, rather it is a tool to help guide your job selection. Be aware, however, that the needs of the service will take precedence over your choice of job. Once you've taken the ASVAB, your recruiter will schedule your trip to MEPS, where you'll have a physical exam. Meanwhile, once you sign consent for the background check, that will begin and proceed while you are going taking the ASVAB and visiting MEPS. Once everything is completed and you have passed your physical and background check and completed the ASVAB, then it will be time to discuss the length of your initial enlistment term, and finally, sign your enlistment contract. If you go into Delayed Entry, you can push back your report date up to one year, subject (again) to the needs of the service.
