They are very expensive both to buy, insure, and maintain. Mustangs are well in excess of $1 Million nowadays for a good example. And, unless you are a very experienced pilot, it will take you a while to build up the experience needed to fly one of these things. They are a little more complicated than a Cessna 172.

Regarding that guy not trying to discourage you, juust one slight mention. WW2 planes don't end in P51Mustang, P40 Warhawk or the F4U Corsair.
There were bombers like the Mitchell, Liberator,Flying Fortress etc. Not to mention the other country's versions, some of which out-flew and out gunned and out manufactured their American counterparts.
