If you are looking for the best value, you need to get your own FFL 03 (C%26amp;R) license. This will allow you to have firearms older than 50 years old to be shipped directly to you. This will encompass most military surplus rifles available on the market right now. I won't go into detail on getting one (the ATF website has a terrible explanation on getting one, but start by looking there). I think it is $35 for 3 years (sorry, it has been 2 years since I renewed mine, I forget the exact cost, but it is somewhere around there). If you can't figure it out, just search on here, the question has been asked several times.



The FFL C%26amp;R will allow you to order from wholesalers and resellers out of state without having to pay someone else to do the transfer for you (which usually runs between $20 and $100 per firearm).



So what are good places to get them if you have your FFL 03?



Classic Arms is a great company to deal with and are about as cheap as they get http://www.classicarms.us

J%26amp;G tends to be cheap as well. I do not recall buying from them personally. Their selection is usually the same as Classic Arms' (whichever surplus weapons are currently available on the wholesale market) http://www.jgsales.com



I've purchased from Military Gun Supply. Their sales tend to be great, but I've been less than impressed with the quality of the rifles.



AIM surplus is worth an honorable mention. Simpson LTD carries surplus firearms that no one else will have, but you are going to pay a huge premium with those guys.



Gun Broker (http://www.gunbroker.com) and Auction Arms (http://www.auctionarms.com) are the eBay sites of the firearms world. Gun Broker has much more selection than Auction Arms.



the CMP (http://www.thecmp.org) is the only way to go if you are looking for an M1 Garand (and M1 Carbines, but the supply of those have dwindled big time). There are some hoops to jump through, but they will ship firearms to your door without an FFL.



For the most part, your selection will be limited by what is currently available from the wholesalers. One minute there will be a ton of something and two months later there is none to be found.



All the gun shows I have been to (which I admit is not many for the reason mentioned) tend to be overpriced. Local gun stores tend to be slightly overpriced, but good deals can be found if you negotiate a bit. Pawn shops can be great, but they tend to lack a reliable selection.

We can get ours at the Drug store/Liquor Store/Grocery/Bass pro shop. You can get SKS, M1s, AR-15s, AK-47s, AK-74s...
