I will not waste your time insulting any service, they all have great benefits and certain drawbacks. But I do question your statement "definitely as an officer". Depending on your current age and education level you may want to look at the enlisted ranks as well.
Each branch of service has various programs to pay for college; each branch of service can offer free college credit for training. In-fact, the Air Force has its own two-year college, the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF)
Each service tends to have a different life style that is driven by the different missions that they need to accomplish. When deciding which service to join, ask people in your hometown their opinions, especially local veterans. Ask them what they would join if given the chance to do it all over again. Then ask them for their second choice, too.
By listening to people near your home rather than a bunch of Yahoo! readers you will get better answers for this important decision from people that know you personally.
I am glad that you are looking into this career option.
