What Military or Foreign Diplomacy Experience has Obama participated in during his entire life?

Obama is appalled by Sen John McCain's military and diplomatic experience. What credible background does he possess to viciously attack and accuse McCain's life time service to America?

Obama has very little experience. A few international trips as best I can recall. McCain has significantly more of those, plus he is a former navy captain (the equivalent of a colonel in the army for you non-navy types).



Fact of the matter is, Dan Quayle had more experience (2 term representative, 2 term senator) when he ran for VP under Bush I then both Clinton and Obama combined. Yet, he was crucified by the media and the democrats for his youth (he was in his 40s) and his lack of experience. I wonder why that is not happening now...What Military or Foreign Diplomacy Experience has Obama participated in during his entire life?

Obama was an Illinois Senator. They work 54 days a year and it's considered a part-time job. Most people have another job too.



Obama mentions that he lived in Indonesia but he was 6-10 years old at the time and was registered in school as a Muslim... that's about it... that and skirting his responsibilities in the US Senate for less than half a term.
He smoked crack on Chicago's south side. Now he wants to be president.

He has none.. just as he has no other experience to run this country.. but apparently a lot of Democrats want some one with no experience.. how interesting!

And one thing that Li'l Bush has proved unequivocally - you don't need experience to be the president.
Who cares? what experience in the same area did the last two presidents have?

He was in charge of Senate Foreign Relations Committee and did NOT conduct a meeting.

Other than living all over the world and lots of travel, he serves on the Senate Foreign Relations committe.



Oh, and Obama is not "appalled by McCain's military service" , etc. as you said. in fact, I have yet to hear a speech given by Obama that references John McCain in which Obama has left out that he respects McCain, believes he is a patriot and war hero and deserves respect for what he's done for our country. So I'm not sure where you got your idea that Obama is in any way appalled by McCain's experience. I think Obama has not only stated, but truly believes, that McCain and his experience, especially as a POW, is deserving of great respect.

Growing up and living abroad--especially not in a fortified embassy pad--provides you with a lot of foreign policy and diplomatic experience. I spent over two years living over seas and interacting with foreign populations day to day, and at all levels is much different I suspect than from looking down the barrel of a gun at host country nationals. I highly doubt that Obama is viciously attacking McCain and his military service. He has respect for national service of all kinds and values everyone's experience . However, military service over seas is not the surest or most balanced foreign /diplomatic experience.

It's not as if the president is personally running either the military OR the diplomatic core. Do I think Obama's professional experience and intelligence will enable him to make smart policy decisions? Yes... I do.
