How did the advancement of military technology in WWI change the idea of war?In WW2 mass killing was easier. With the furthering of the machine gun, chemical warfare, and airplane attacks, we were able to kill more people at a time. As sad as a statement that is, it is the only thing that made a real difference. Strategies were mostly similar. But airplanes being used for warfare allowed us to bomb cities (which meant more citizen casualties). Overall to me, the only thing that REALLY affected it was the use of chemical warfare. How did the advancement of military technology in WWI change the idea of war?
In WWI the machine gun was invented as well as the tank. As far as strategy WWI was a war of attrition, and trench warfare. Each side would build large trenches with barbed wire and other devices. One side would charge towards the other in an attempt to overthrow the opponent after either shelling or gassing the enemy line with artillery. A war of attrition is a war where massive ammounts of resources and people are thrown head on towards the opposition in an attempt to overrun the enemy. Due to these tactics airplanes were implemented into the war as reconnasence vehicles and eventually to attack the opposition. How did the advancement of military technology in WWI change the idea of war?didja know that most of the so-called 'advancements' in military during ww1 was actually already in use and tested during the mexican/american thing with pancho villa? yep along with blackjack pershing and his field military armaments? the planes, tanks, trains, early jeeps, machine guns, bombs, the whole bit was tried and used in the border war between mexico and usa/texas in 1908 (circa). so when ww1 arrived for america in 1917, we were ready, advanced what was already advanced and went beyond. the real jump in military tech, however, was in ww2. we are where we are today with gps, the net, computers, tv, the lot, radar/sonar, mash hospitals, medical advances, etc. all because of what was known in 1908, made better in 1917 and took off like a rocket by 1943. now, if only business could be as sure and as successful. How did the advancement of military technology in WWI change the idea of war?
the loss of millions of soldiers shocked the people although all governments tried to hide the disgusting disdain the generals had for their men and shell shocked men being executed turned many people against even the idea of war when previously most people thought it was a jolly good idea
