What positions are there in the military, for a college graduate with a bachelors of science?

I always played with the idea of joining the military, army in general. My parents want me to join as civilian, but with no experience and no grade level, it would seem the best choice would be to join as an officer, but is that my only options? What other choices are there? I would prefer not getting sent to Iraq, or getting shot at, but that seems to come with the job. What positions are there in the military, for a college graduate with a bachelors of science? All you need to become a officer is a bachelors.

You need to go to a college and talk to a gold bar recruiter. They will be able to help you the best.

You can pretty much do anythign all you need is a bachelors. Most of the time as an officer you dont get to pick its what the army needs. I have a BSEE and i am going signal (communications) in a few months my buddy same BSEE got branched infantry. What positions are there in the military, for a college graduate with a bachelors of science?
Depends on what unit you are in if you go to Iraq. You only have a BS, so most likely you would have to go in as an enlisted but it might move your rank up a little bit. What positions are there in the military, for a college graduate with a bachelors of science? What do you want to do for a living?

What is your degree in?

Have you considered getting a masters degree? (ROTC can help)

Some posters, obviously with no military background, seem to believe a college degree is all it takes to be commissioned, as if you just show up at the recruiter's office, whip out that BS degree and they bestow rank on you the same day.

The degree meets the educational requirement but a person has to meet all the other requirements as well. You can have all the degrees in the world and still be unfit be an officer.

Seems to me, you're looking for a nice, cushy job with no risk of having to participate in the war. You'd like that spiffy new uniform and officer's pay, but you don't want to risk your butt. Yeah, sure, that seems like Army officer material to me.

Please, if you want to go into government service, try the USDA, IRS, or FDA. They've got some spiffy uniforms, I'm sure, and you won't have to take the risk of deployment where you might get a boo-boo.

And could you explain how your parents think you can join the military as a civilian and stay that way? After boot camp, civilians are called soldiers and I don't think your Mommy wants you to be one. I'm with her. What positions are there in the military, for a college graduate with a bachelors of science? If you don't like being shot at I would suggest that you join the Air Force. You will still get great training in the carrier field you choose and in most jobs even in a combat zone you will remain on base where it is harder to get shot. There are no guarantees but the Air Force is the safest bet. But before you join anything look at what civilian jobs you would like to do after you serve and find a job in the military that will provide you with the training.
