Despite the obvious horror of the Holocaust, there were social, political, and military circumstances that delayed an effected US response. Identify them and cite specific examples of these. What were the social, political, and military circumstances that delayed an effected US response to Holocaust? The US had already spent most of the first half of the 20th Century ignoring genocide by governments. The country had a huge number of Armenian refugees who'd fled that one. The US turned away escapees from the French death camps in the Caribbean until the day those camps shut down, never uttered a word of protest. The Ukraine? The same. The US just didn't have an ear that listened and a brain that protested genocide until Hitler did it, and only then when he was defeated in war.
Post WWII the US ignored the genocide in Biafra, Cambodia, the USSR, anywhere it happened. The US does not oppose genocide. The US opposes genocide against Jews by Adolph Hitler.
